Two weekends ago I had the chance to visit Nokonoshima, a small island off the coast of Fukuoka. I went with a couple of friends from my program at KyuDai. We took a ferry to get there, walked around a huge park, and had a delicious lunch at a small udon shop. It was a lovely place despite the fact that all of the flowers were a bit fried from the heat. This picture was taken from what seemed to be the highest point on the island. If you look closely you can see Fukuoka far off in the distance.

I think the trees on Nokonoshima inspired
the trees in the original Super Mario Bros. 1 & 3.
